Judging from the support emails and calls that we receive there seems to be a general lack of awareness concerning the "grids"—even among the more experienced users of Ytria's Lotus Notes development and admin tools. Hopefully we can change that a little with this tip and make sure everyone can take full advantage of this feature for your own benefit.

Filtering

Reminder: Grids are used throughout Ytria's product line and are not limited to agentEZ

First make sure agentEZ is running. If it's not, click the agentEZ icon on your Lotus Notes client toolbar and select a server.

  1. Select the databases you are interested in and click the Apply button to retrieve the relevant data within them. Since we are using agentEZ in this example, agents will be displayed in the grid.
  2. Click the filter icon (which looks like a red 'x' next to a funnel) in the Signer column.
  3. In the filter menu, go to Text Filter > Signer begins with: and enter Lotus Notes (case-insensitive since version 9.0.0). Press Enter to apply the text filter. The grid will now show you only the agents that are signed by Lotus Notes "something".
  4. Filtering grid data
  5. Nice work, you have now implemented your first grid filter!
  6. Note: You can also apply a combination of different filters to help you find the information that you want.

Export

Reminder: Grids are used throughout Ytria's product line and are not limited to agentEZ

First make sure agentEZ is running. If it's not, click the agentEZ icon on your Lotus Notes client toolbar and select a server.

  1. Select the databases you are interested in and click the Apply button to retrieve the relevant data within them. Since we are using agentEZ in this example, agents will be displayed in the grid.
  2. To export simply press Ctrl+Shift+E (or right click anywhere in the grid and go to: Grid Action > Export...).
  3. Exporting grid data
Note: This will export ONLY what is currently displayed in the grid.
  4. Enter a file path and name such as C:\test.html, select HTML file and then click OK.
  5. Exporting grid data
Note: Choosing HTML file (Selected Rows) will only export your highlighted grid selection.
  6. Good job, you have now exported all data that is currently displayed in the grid!

Date Formatting

Reminder: Grids are used throughout Ytria's product line and are not limited to agentEZ

First make sure agentEZ is running. If it's not, click the agentEZ icon on your Lotus Notes client toolbar and select a server.

  1. Select the databases you are interested in and click the Apply button to retrieve the relevant data within them. Since we are using agentEZ in this example, agents will be displayed in the grid.
  2. You can apply your own format for any date and time values. Let's say you want to see all the agents that run on a Tuesday. You can do that quite easily.
  3. To access the Date and Time Format dialog you need to right-click inside a grid screen and choose Grid Action > Date and Time Format from the contextual menu.
  4. Date and time format
  5. In the Date and Time Format window, de-select 'Use Default' and enter ddd in the Date Format field to show the day. You can also enter hh in the Time Format field to show the hour.
  6. Date and time format
  7. This format will yield a date and time in a format such as: Tue 05
  8. Date and time format
  9. Nice work, you have now implemented your own date and time format!
Note: The Date Formatting feature is typically useful before grouping (or filtering) data in the grid. By default dates and times are shown right to the second, so if you decide to apply a categorization at this point, the grid will group right to the second as well (and in that case probably not be very useful, since the grouping criteria is too narrow).

Congratulations! You are now finished reading our quick overview of the features that are available in all grids used throughout Ytria's EZ suite software. Now go out there and make sure you use them and save even more time than before!
