Global Features / The flexYgrid

Within every flexYgrid panel, there are standard mechanics that help with the visibility of the data displayed in the grid.

Title View Options

Depending on which panel you are working with, there can be many columns loaded in the grid at once. To see these individual column names better, there are two small, yet helpful, title display options:

  • 'Show Vertical Column Titles' – Toggle this option on/off by selecting its tool bar button , its context menu option found in the 'Grid Tools & Options > Grid Options' submenu (shown below), or by Ctrl + F11.
    'Show Vertical Column Titles' menu

While this option is activated, each column name will be displayed in a vertical title bubble (see below).
    Without vertical column titles:

  • 'Show Column Title in Tooltip' – Toggle this option on/off by selecting its tool bar button , its context menu option found in the 'Grid Tools & Options > Grid Options' submenu (shown below), or by F11.

'Show Column Title in Tooltip' menu

When this option is activated, the currently focused column's title will be shown in a tooltip bubble (see below).

Row Visibility

Along with numerous column filters to isolate the data that you want to see in a flexYgrid panel, there is also a way to manually hide selected grid entries without having to use any filters.
A current selection of rows can be hidden by clicking the 'Hide Selected Entries' toolbar button or context menu option (found in the 'Grid Tools & Options' submenu, show below), or by Ctrl + Shift + H.

'Hide Selected Entries' menu

NoteWhen grid rows are hidden, the data within them will no longer be considered for any inner grid calculations such as group totals.

These hidden row entries can be unhidden, all at once, by clicking the 'Restore All Hidden Entries' toolbar button or context menu located in the 'Grid Tools & Options' submenu, or by Ctrl + Shift + U. This will restore the entries to state they were in before they were hidden.

NoteYou can bring these entries back into the grid without officially unhiding them by using the feature 'Display All Filtered and Manually Hidden Rows'.
